Wave Propagation

A. Discussion:

(1) There is a 1/4 Lambda (90°) phase shift between the magnetic and electric components of the wave.

(2) The power waveform (Poynting Vector) peaks between the two components.

(3) The magnetic wavelength (and by symmetry also the electric wavelength) is increased by a factor of 4L*, i.e., add 4L* for each wavelength of propagation.

(4) Factor (3) above, results in the so-called redshift observed in the wavelengths of spectrum from different galaxies
